Best Dance Studio Software: An Honest UK Buyer's Guide
Search “best dance studio software” and almost every list you’ll find is written for the North American market. They rank the big US tools, quote US pricing, and never mention the things that actually matter to a UK or European studio: termly billing, Direct Debit, and RAD/ISTD grades. This guide fixes that. We make Zooza — so we’ll tell you where Zooza is the right call and, just as honestly, where another tool fits better.
How to choose (the criteria that matter)
Before the table, the questions worth asking of any tool:
- Does it fit how UK/EU studios bill? Termly enrolment blocks and Direct Debit, not just monthly memberships.
- Does it understand dance? Class levels and grades (RAD/ISTD), trials, and recital/costume logistics — not just generic “classes.”
- Is it built for your market? Local payments, language, and support hours.
- Does the pricing fit your size? A small studio and a multi-location school have very different needs.
The honest comparison
| Software | Best for | Market focus | Dance-specific strengths | Payments |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zooza | UK & European studios wanting termly billing + Direct Debit, in their own language | UK / EU (EN, SK, CS, PL, DE, RO) | Class levels, trials, term enrolment, recital one-off fees, parent portal | GoCardless Direct Debit + Stripe card, multi-currency |
| Jackrabbit Dance | Established / large US studios | North America | Mature recital & costume module | Card / ACH (US-centric) |
| iClassPro | US studios & gyms | North America | Class & skill tracking | US-centric |
| The Studio Director | US studios wanting an all-rounder | North America | Long-established class management | US-centric |
| LoveAdmin | UK dance schools & clubs | UK | UK dance-school specialist | Direct Debit |
| Class4Kids / ClassForKids | UK clubs running dance, gym & football | UK | Markets itself as the UK’s largest kids-activity booking platform | Card / Direct Debit |
Tools and markets move quickly — confirm current pricing and features with each vendor before you decide.
Why we put Zooza first (and when not to)
We list Zooza first because for the studio we’re built for — a UK or European dance school that bills by term, collects by Direct Debit, and wants the whole thing in its own language — it’s the most direct fit. Zooza handles term enrolment, trials and trial follow-up, class levels, recital one-off fees, attendance and parent communication, with GoCardless Direct Debit and Stripe built in, and a free tier to start. (See Zooza for dance studios.)
But honestly:
- If you’re a large, established US studio, Jackrabbit Dance is the incumbent for a reason — its recital and costume module is deep, and it’s tuned to the US market.
- If you’re a UK studio weighing UK-built specialists, LoveAdmin and Class4Kids are credible options worth a look — Class4Kids in particular if you run dance alongside gymnastics or football.
The right answer depends on your market, your billing model, and your size — not on who shouts “leader” loudest.
What the NA-centric lists miss
If you’re in the UK, two things rarely make it into the popular comparison articles:
- RAD / ISTD grades. UK progression runs on graded and vocational levels, and exam entries are made by your school through the board’s portal. Software that has no concept of a grade makes this a spreadsheet job. (More: managing RAD & ISTD grades.)
- Termly Direct Debit. UK studios bill by term, and Direct Debit is the cleanest way to collect it on time. (More: Direct Debit & termly billing for dance schools.)
A tool built around US monthly memberships can be made to work, but you’ll feel the friction every term.
